Villa Savoye
The Villa Savoye, one of the most recognizable examples of architecture in the “International Style”, is considered by many to be the most fundamental work by swiss architect, Le Corbusier. Constructed near Paris, France in 1929, it eliminated load-bearing walls to create a free-flowing floorplan. Furthermore, the curvature of interior walls and the ramps between levels of the house invite the occupants to naturally move between rooms. The house was erected on columns to allow a free-flowing garden to exist underneath while the house was constructed with a flat roof to allow for a roof-top garden.
